Dear Dr. Solomon,
I’m so depressed about the election. If God is a Republican, then He must not be sovereign. If He is a Democrat…nah. Either way, this really messes up my theology. I don’t know what I believe anymore. I can’t get out of bed and my place is a mess. Where is God? What is He doing?

Dear Too Blue,
I am quite certain that God is still on His throne and that He is having a hearty laugh over the foolishness of men. (See Psalm 2.) You ought to have a pretty good hoot over your own foolishness. God is too wise to be a Republican and too just to be a Democrat. Think about that until you start chuckling. Then get out of bed and clean the place up. You’ll feel much better and your theology will come back into focus.
