Dear Dr. Solomon
I have this recurring nightmare—I am falling, falling, falling through the air. After a long time, I drop into a pit of quicksand and slowly sink into the mire. Then everything speeds up and I’m suddenly in a car that is racing down railroad tracks into an on-coming train. This is either a vision or I’m worried about my financial condition. You see, I’ve lost my job; my mortgage is upside down; and my credit cards are maxed out. Interpret my dream and my troubles, Wise One.
The Disturbed Dreamer
Dear Disturbed Dreamer,
As for the dream, perhaps you are eating too much chocolate ice cream before bedtime. How would I know? I am Solomon not Daniel. However, good theology will bring you peace in these difficult trials. Hang on to what you know to be true about God. He is good. He is wise. He is sovereign. He never promised you that you would have all you think you should. But He does promise to work all for good to those who love Him. And try a little warm milk. Your dreams should become sweeter.
